Save your worksheetModels site time plus entered drive/setup time at a constant average wage and burden. Other paid time, office overhead, payment fees, tax, and different overtime rates are outside this estimate. Costs are rounded per job to cents.
Read the week clearly
How crew costs become margin.
Use this as a planning worksheet. Then check the estimate against your completed jobs.
Weekly revenue is price per job × jobs per week. Loaded labor per job is (on-site minutes + paid travel/setup minutes) ÷ 60 × people × average hourly wage × (1 + labor burden ÷ 100), rounded to cents before multiplying by the job count. Weekly gross margin is revenue minus loaded labor and materials; divide by revenue for the percentage. With zero revenue, a margin percentage is undefined.
Then check it against real work
Check the estimate against the work you actually did.
LawnSystems’ job-cost workflow uses recorded visit time, configured loaded labor rates, materials and revenue. Open the real screen to see how a property’s margin is shown. The figures there are fictional.

Questions
Questions owners ask before trusting a worksheet.
Short answers to what owners ask before they send a request. Anything missing goes in your request, and we reply by email.
Is this my company’s net profit?
No. This worksheet estimates gross margin after the crew labor and materials you enter. It does not include every expense, unentered paid time, owner compensation, tax, or financing costs.
Can I use it for lighting, snow, or pressure washing?
Yes. Use the price, average visit time, travel/setup, crew wages, and materials that fit one comparable type of job. Different jobs or contract arrangements should be modeled separately.
Where does the 35% burden come from?
It is a visible sample assumption, not a required rate or a claim about your company. Change it to the allowance you use for costs above base wages.
Does LawnSystems use estimates for job margin?
The product’s job-cost workflow uses recorded visit time, configured loaded labor rates, materials, and revenue. This separate planning worksheet lets you explore inputs before reviewing your actual completed work.
Are my numbers sent anywhere?
No. Worksheet inputs stay in page memory and are not submitted or saved in browser storage. The CSV download contains the numbers you chose to save on your device.
Put the rest of the business in place
Plan the move too.
A margin you trust is the first half. The second is a handoff that keeps booked work and balances straight.
